On Thursday, we got on our way to the EuroSpeedway Lausitz for the most important scooter event of the year: the Scooter-Weekend extreme. As it was scheduled to last three days this year, it promised to be an especially spectacular event.
After a long journey with several traffic jams we finally arrived. We first took a moment to get an overview of the location: huge event area, pits for the tuning crews, sprint track in the pit lane, and an amazing GP circuit: we just couldn’t wait to get cracking; on Friday, the racing was supposed to start.
On Friday morning, a lot of people were in the pits and on the camping ground; as announced, there were a lot of big names of the international tuning scene to be seen in the pit lane: TRT, MXS, TCR … and they had some impressing dragsters with them.
Drag racing started right on time so that everyone had the chance to find the ideal engine setup for the season’s final on Saturday; already there you could see some interesting runs. In the evening, the best time was 5.99 secs (incl. reaction time), done by Team Maxiscoot from France with their BigBore 2 cylinder.
The final runs of the DSSC season were scheduled for Saturday, but the Christmas tree short-circuited after a scoot, powered by nitrous oxide, rolled over one of the cables, so that after that no time measuring was possible.
Despite of the fact that the DSSC Championship was already decided and the runs couldn’t be timed, the best riders insisted on doing their runs. There were some really exciting duels between the 4-cylinder from Italy and the 2-cylinder from France with the surprising result that France beat Italy 2:0.
The GP-circuit allowed everyone to experience the racing atmosphere and to test the durability of their engines on a high-speed track.
All in all, it was a great weekend on a fantastic location … really worth the visit!
