Page 43It has really been a great chance for me to take part in the HARZRING 24-hour race in Germany. There are two 24-hour races now for small capacity engines, one in Germany and the other one in Spain.
I already have more than ten years racing experience, Taiwan, China, Japan. But I’d never had a chance to start in Europe. This time, the boss of Stage6 invited me to Europe to take part in the racing, and it really means a lot to me.
The pic on the left: Tim, one of the other riders, wrote down the racing plan. Why didn’t anyone care whether the others would be able to read it?

As I put all my time into organising races in Taiwan, I hadn’t practiced enough, especially considering I am now over 30. So before the HARZRING 24-hour race, I practised day and night. But it wasn’t only practising, I had to lose weight, too. In fact, there were too many things to do before the race. This was different from the racing I had done before; before, the most important thing was the sudden power, but this time it was different. A different type of scooter racing, so you really need to put in a different effort.
Seeing Europe from the airplane, the view was really beautiful. I saw the cities, factories and the mountains. Not like the view when I went to Japan, the view there was really boring. The pic on the right: If you want to use the toilet, you have to pay EURO 5.
The middle pic: This was my first meal. It was a very strange hamburger. The man is Thilo Nast.
The pic below on the left: This is the leader of our racing team.Page 45
[He wrote some more about the hotel food, Berlin and the Germans.]
It is 80 km to the Harzring circuit, Thilo took us there in his 5700cc car.
The big pic: The way to ride of riders in Europe is tougher.
The pix below: We slept in the car, which was a very special experience for me.Page 46
When we arrived at the racing circuit, we were very excited to check the track. The total length is 1100 m, the track is very wide, the space is big enough, and they have everything: restaurants, hotels, toilets and shower rooms … even although it is not a very new racing place, nor is it really an international racing place.
The pic on the right side: When we arrived at the racing place, the Stage6 staff already started to prepare everything.
The left pic: The Stage6 staff and all riders.
The pic below: That guy only wore underwear to reduce weight. There are five pix of the riders of the Stage6 team.

This time we used YAMAHA JOGSW type. This scooter is made in Japan, but they don’t sell it in Taiwan and Japan; it is European style and many settings, for example the levers, are very strange.
During our first practice, I felt very nervous. I didn’t feel the scooter we used was very tough, but the expending power is really nice, and I got used to the brakes and the suspension very well. But I didn’t get used to the position of the levers. They are at an angle. Maybe that’s because I am not tall enough and my fingers are too short.
The way to ride of European riders is tougher. If they find a little space in the race, they will try to overtake you. But this way, sometimes they also fall themselves. And the Japanese way is similar to the one in Taiwan, they will try to use all skills to keep around you. After practice, I believed we could do a good job.About the pix below, to introduce the scooter:
1. Stage6 digital water temperature meter, it can also be easily read at night.
2. They cover the bar to protect the riders.
3. The aluminum alloy oilcan is specially made for this race. It holds 13 litres.
4. 70cc two-stroke LC engine with big T-exhaust port, only for race use.
5. The two-stroke exhaust is specially made for the Jog engine. After 24 hours of racing, it still looks perfect. No breaking.
6. Special Stage6 front fork and caliper and bigger float disc.
7. The racing type of Stage6 shock absorber, you can adjust the high/ low speed.YAMAHA JOGSW European edition; after modifying, the exhaust is 70cc, the engineer said that it can give around 22 hp, but we modified it to give 18 hp to fit the racing. 24-hour races are a challenge for two-stroke engines, and none of the parts got damaged!! It was really a mission impossible! But it worked out.
The small pic below on the right: Thilo cried because the fuel is too expensive.
